Description
Use this mounting kit to maximise the energy generated each day from your panels, by setting the correct angle.
Suitable for Solar panels up to 500w (up to 110cm wide). Â Long rails are 105cm long, vertical adjusters are 55cms long.
When you park, position your vehicle so when you angle up your panels you get the maximum amount of solar energy possible. Â For the best sum of power over the whole day park so your panels will angle north. if you are keen you can position your vehicle nor-northeast to catch the morning sun better, and nor-norwest to catch the afternoon sun better.
Follow this guide to set the optimum angle for your solar array.
For New Zealand the best tilt angle for summer is the latitude, times 0.93, minus 21 degrees. The best tilt angle for winter is the latitude, times 0.875, plus 19.2 degrees. Â For spring and autumn, take the latitude, multiply by 0.98, and subtract 2.3 degrees.
For example, if you are in Wanganui (40 degrees latitude) in summer, the optimum angle would be 40 x 0.93 -21 =  16.2 degrees.
If you were in Queenstown(45 degrees latitude)  in wintertime, the optimum angle would be 45 x 0.875 +19.2 =  58.5 degrees.
