Battery Chargers

A quality multi-stage battery charger refills a deep-cycle battery safely and completely, which extends its life. Waveinverter stocks mains-powered smart chargers and DC-DC chargers for charging from a vehicle alternator or from solar. A good charger applies a staged profile – bulk, absorption and float – matched to your battery chemistry (AGM, lead-carbon, gel or lithium), rather than holding a single fixed voltage. Undersized or single-stage chargers leave batteries chronically under-charged, which is the most common cause of early battery failure. As a starting point, choose a charger rated at roughly 10 to 20 percent of your battery bank capacity in amp-hours, with a charge profile that matches your battery type.

Why will a cheap charger not fully charge my battery? Most basic chargers hold a fixed voltage that is too low to complete the absorption stage, so the battery never reaches 100 percent.
